St Pauls Carnival - Saturday 6th July 2019

Dear Resident or Business Owner

St Pauls Carnival attracts a large number of people into the St Pauls area of Bristol, the attendance at last year’s Carnival was reported by the local authorities to be in the region of 100,000 people.

The event is free, with stages, sound systems, food, drink and craft stalls and a procession featuring children from local schools, dance groups and floats. To ensure it is a safe event for everyone, all roads within the event site around the periphery shall be closed to traffic.

Please see below the map over-leaf for a list of roads that shall be closed for St. Pauls Carnival 2019 on Saturday 6th July.

To allow equipment and infrastructure for the build of the stages to be bought in safely and so that the procession route is able to move unimpeded through the streets, we would be grateful if you would arrange for any vehicles you own to be removed during this time.

Ideally, we would appreciate vehicles being moved from closed roads by 2pm on Friday 5th July. You will then be able to return your vehicles on Sunday 7th July from 7am.  We will be making Riverside Park available for you to park vehicles in from 2pm on Friday 5th July. This will be a secure, manned car park with 24hr security operatives and additional lighting available until 12:00 midday on Sunday 7th July.

If you have any questions regarding the road closures please get in touch with the team on admin@stpaulscarnival.org.uk  We want to work with the communities, residents and business owners so that if any issues arise, we can look for solutions that suit everyone and cause as little disruption as possible.

The road closures shall be implemented from;

14:00hrs on Friday 5th July until 07:00hrs on Sunday morning 7th July.

Please see the map overleaf showing all road closures, emergency routes and the procession route for this year’s event.

We’d like to draw your attention to the emergency routes (i.e. roads where no activities take place) which are an integral part of Carnival’s safety plans in order to have clear access for the emergency services. These are shown on the map in red. It is extremely important to let us know if you are planning to apply for a Temporary Event Notice on any of these routes as if these roads become unavailable it not only makes the event unsafe but it could jeopardise the future of Carnival, please contact us at your earliest convenience at admin@stpaulscarnival.com or 0117 942 5017 (9am – 2pm)

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. If you would like to come and meet the team and discuss any aspect of the event please feel free to come to one of our weekly drop in sessions taking place each Thursday from 11am – 1pm – more information can be found on our website and on our social media channels.
