Seven prominent walls in St Paul’s have now been painted with colourful and poignant murals of the founders of the annual event.
The large depictions of Carmen Beckford, Dolores Campbell, Barbara Dettering, Clifford Drummond, Audley Evans, Roy Hackett and Owen Henry include symbols and quotes representing their tireless work in the community.
St Pauls Carnival attracts a large number of people into the St Pauls area of Bristol, the attendance at last year’s Carnival was reported by the local authorities to be in the region of 100,000 people.
The event is free, with stages, sound systems, food, drink and craft stalls and a procession featuring children from local schools, dance groups and floats. To ensure it is a safe event for everyone, all roads within the event site around the periphery shall be closed to traffic.
A big thank you to artists/performers and bands for your applications in the last few weeks. The entry deadline has now passed and the artistic content team is now reviewing all applications. Successful artists will be contacted in the next week.
As you know we are working hard to ensure the Carnival is a huge success this year. We have some amazing support from Arts Council England, Bristol City Council and our brilliant corporate partners. We are looking to increase our financial support for this year and beyond to ensure the future success and sustainability of this not-for-profit, free, public event, so to help us do this we have launched a Crowdfunder campaign: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/stpaulscarnival
Please support and help us make this year’s Carnival fantastic by sending this message to contacts so we can get the ball rolling with some pledges today and over the weekend.
If you would like to find out more about corporate partnership opportunities please get in touch with Kate on 07766002102 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
